Team Leader, NUC Accreditation team to Business Administration programme, Professor (Mrs) E.D. Adedayo, speaking on the purpose of her team’s visit to Covenant University

A team of Accreditors from the National Universities Commission (NUC) on visitation to the Business Administration programme of Covenant University, has expressed excitement at the state-of-the-art facilities in the University, which they described as ‘out of this world.’

Presenting a summary report of its assessment to the Management of Covenant University on Thursday, June 22, 2017, Leader of the four-man team, Professor Erlinda Adetayo, said she and members of her team could not believe they were in a Nigerian university as the quality of infrastructure was comparable to that of world-class universities overseas.

In the highlights of the team’s report, Professor Adetayo, said that the philosophy and objectives of the programme are in line with the NUC minimum standards. She stated that the team was impressed by the fact that the students have good understanding of academic regulations, going by the feedback.

Speaking on students course evaluation, external examiners’ and assessors’ reports, the programme content and marking schemes, she said her team found them adequate and of good standard.

Professor Adetayo, said the team was also fascinated by the Entrepreneurship Laboratory in the Department which, according to her, is well equipped and well maintained. She stated that the University Library houses adequate books and journals, relevant to the programme.

In his remarks, the Director, Academic Planning Unit of the University, Dr. Olawande Daramola, appreciated the team for its focus and objectivity and promised that the University will always strive to meet up with the requirements of the NUC for every programme run by the institution. He added that it was a great privilege to have the input of the accreditors.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor AAA. Atayero, expressed his appreciation to the accreditation team for their honesty and commitment to excellence. He described the job they did as very professional, honest and thorough, and assured them of the University’s commitment to continuous improvement.

Also at the meeting were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shalom Chinedu; representative of the Registrar, Deacon Joshua Ogaga-Oghene; Acting Director, Centre for Learning Resources, Mrs. Promise Ilo; Dean, College of Business and Social Sciences, Professor Francis Iyoha; Director, Quality and Academic Standard, Dr. Edwin Agwu; Head, Department of Business Management, Dr. Oluwole Iyiola; and some faculty members.
