Covenant University’s exploits in the field of research has continued to wax stronger, with the University leaving the iconic and lesser known institutions in her trail as she emerged tops in the area of Housing; satisfaction; residential satisfaction.

Elsevier SciVal, the quick and easy access to the research performance of 8500 research institutions and 220 countries worldwide, had in its latest computations for the period between 2012 and 2017 ranked Covenant 1st among the top 10 institutions worldwide in the aforementioned topic.

One of the best 10 universities in Africa, the University of Johannesburg was second on the list, which also featured two other Nigerian universities - Obafemi Awolowo University (3rd) and Federal University of Technology, Akure (7th).

Amongst other institutions in the top 10 bracket were Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (4th), International Islamic University Malaysia (5th), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (6th), and University of Cagliari (9th).

According to the computations, Covenant led the pack with 18 publications and 74 citations, and leading the top 100 authors worldwide is a faculty in Covenant University’s Department of architecture, Professor Eziyi Offia Ibem with 15 publications, 71 citations, and 8 h-index.

A multiple award winner, Professor Ibem’s research interests include Sustainable Housing, Urban Communities and Construction; Procurement Practices; Post-Occupancy Evaluation; and Environment-Behaviour.

The next Covenant faculty on the top 100 authors list is Dr. Bridgette Egidario Aduwo, also of the Architecture department. Her 7 publications, 40 citations and 3 h-index earned her the 4th position. Dr. Aduwo’s research interests are Housing issues; Interior and Landscape Architecture; Urban infrastructure and the built environment.

Other Covenant faculty on the list are Dr Akunnaya Pearl Opoko of the Architecture department, with 3 publications and 2 h-index; and Arc. Uwakonye Obioha, again of the Architecture department, with 2 publications, 8 citations and 2 h-index
