Summary of Profile

Mrs. Clement-Akomolafe is an expatriate faculty – Lecturer II in the Applied Biology & Biotechnology Programme of the Department of Biological Sciences. She is currently on her Ph.D. research work which focuses on the screening of indigenous anti-malarial plants for possible bio-active compounds that could lead to newer and more efficient drugs for malarial treatment.

Her research activities also include Molecular and Bioinformatic Analyses: Systematics and Lead-Compound Implications for the sweetener Plant - Thaumatococcus daniellii, and in-silico screening for SNPs. She has a passion for biotechnology and environmental sciences and her suggestion brought to life the University’s Waste Management Committee. She is a member of various professional bodies such as African Society for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (ASBCB), American Society of Microbiology (ASM), African Society of Human Genetics (AfSHG) and also serves on the Educational Council at International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) and is a member of the Global Co-operative Forum (GCF).
