Covenant University students have been urged to invest in the future as they embark on vacation because the investments they make today will determine their accomplishments in life. This advice was given by the Chancellor, Covenant University, Dr. David Oyedepo during the Departure Service on Friday, May 8, 2015.

He stated that it is not sufficient to highlight goals; one must make effort to actualize them. “Don’t develop a balloon vision but set yourself a target in life,” he said. He also advised them to optimize the opportunity they have to embark on vacation, urging them to develop themselves rather than engage in frivolous activities.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo, acknowledged God’s faithfulness over the institution and advised the students to comport themselves with dignity. “Eagles don’t flock, but soar. Remember you cannot feature in the future that you cannot picture,” he said.

While addressing the students, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Taiwo Abioye appreciated God for a successful completion of 2014/2015 Academic Session. She added that it is imperative to give thanks to God for the recent webometrics ranking in which the University came tops and also for the protection against the scourge of the Ebola disease. She, therefore, advised the students to maximize the period of their holiday as one of renewal of strength, getting energized and making parents and staff proud of them.

During the vacation, the students are to embark on an eight week mandatory internship. According to the Registrar, Dr. Olumuyiwa Oludayo, the Students Work Study Programme (SWEP) is slated from May 24 to June 19, 2015 while the Covenant University Schorlastic Screening begins on May 26 through to June 6, 2015.The University will resume for the 2015/2016 Academic Session on August 5, 2015.
