The Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor AAA. Atayero, on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, added another year to his age, with members of the university management, on behalf of faculty, staff and students, converging to celebrate a man unanimously described as “an achiever”.

Setting the pace at the event, held inside the Vice-Chancellor’s office, was the Registrar, Pastor Olamide Olusegun, who said it was imperative that the university celebrate and rejoice with “an amiable, dynamic and unassuming Vice-Chancellor”, whom he wished a happy birthday. This was followed by songs of praise anchored by the Director, Centre for Systems and Information Service, Engr. Yinka Adeboye.

Then came time for goodwill messages during which members of the university management, including the Deputy Vice-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shalom Chinedu and all the Deans of Colleges, were lavish and hearty in their praises for the celebrator. According to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the members of the university community rejoice with Professor Atayero in what God is doing in his life. He thanked God for preserving the Vice-Chancellor. “You haven’t seen anything yet, God has just started. The grace of the Lord will see you through,” Professor Chinedu added.

The Director, Financial Services, Pastor Bayo Oladehinbo; Dean, College of Engineering, Professor Christian Bolu; Dean, College of Business and Social Sciences, Professor Francis Iyoha; Dean, College of Leadership Development Studies, Professor Charles Ogbulogo; Director, Centre for Learning Resource, Dr. Chris Nkiko; and Director, Centre for Systems and Information Service, Engr. Yinka Adeboye, all extolled the virtues of Professor Atayero, which they outlined as great depth of knowledge, astute leadership humility and good brand of personality. Also, they prayed that God will continue to bless the Vice-Chancellor and his family, take him to unimaginable heights and ensures he leads the university to desired destination.

Giving the charge at the occasion, the Dean, College of Science and Technology, Professor Nicholas Omoregbe, described life as a gift and not a right, such that anytime people wake up they should return the glory back to God. He said the university was celebrating someone ordained to be a leader and prayed for Professor Atayero’s life to be on the increase. “I pray you don’t fail in your assignment, I see you fulfilling the purpose. God will multiply every aspect of your life,” said Professor Omoregbe.

A big and colourful birthday card and gift were later presented to the Vice-Chancellor, while the Registrar, Pastor Olamide Olusegun, who supervised cutting of the birthday cake, described it as beautiful and fanciful. “It shows the Vice-Chancellor’s life will remain beautiful, sweet and fresh in the name of Jesus. Everywhere you go the aroma of Christ will ooze through you,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Atayero, in his response, said he was overwhelmed and humbled by the kind words showered on him. His profound appreciation, he revealed, goes to God for lifting him up from Lecturer II to a Vice-Chancellor. I’m privileged to work with you. I thank you all for the show of love.”
