Covenant University produced the top 4 authors in the list of the top 500 authors worldwide in the field of Carbon Steel; Corrosion; Mild Steel as the University emerged the only Nigerian institution to make the top 10 list of the world’s top 100 institutions by scholarly output, on this topic.

According to the computations by Elsevier SciVal, the quick and easy access to the research performance of 8500 research institutions and 220 countries worldwide, Covenant, with 27 scholarly outputs, 494 view count, and 64 citation count was second only to Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa.
